Have You Seen The Moon Tonight?

about

Have You Seen The Moon Tonight? was one of the last songs I wrote for my album. It addresses my desire for romantic love and questions whether it’s even possible, because realistically not everyone finds that. The title came from the overused trope in films where separated lovers look longingly at the moon at exactly the same time. I always found this to be ridiculous, and yet I still yearn for the cliche. The song questions whether that’s out there for me and whether I am even worthy of it.

lyrics

Desire, have we met?
Cry, toward the moon
Tonight, only have tonight
Still, we stand still

Pressure mounting behind the wheel
Feed my life, count my heart
Crushing will it ever fulfil?
Free my mind, command my life

Can you ever be loved?
(Chitter chatter chitter chatter, does it even really matter?)
Can you ever be loved?
(Titter tatter titter tatter, do you even really matter?)

Shooting star, how you shine
Is it hard, to shine so bright?
Falling star, how’d you fade?
Was it the never ending wait?

Pleasure waiting beyond the hill
Feed my fire, calm my nerve
Rushing water you can’t conceal
Flood my mind, relieve the crushing tide

Can you ever be loved?
(Chitter chatter chitter chatter, does it even really matter?)
Can you ever be loved?
(Titter tatter titter tatter, do you even really matter?)

Do you ever know?

Is it real?
Is it mine?
Is it meant for me this time?

Do you know
What it is?
What it takes to give this gift?

Desire, have we met?
(Can you ever be loved?)
(Do you ever know?)
(Chitter chatter chitter chatter, does it even really matter?)

Tonight, only have tonight
(Can you ever be loved?)
(Do you ever know?)
(Titter tatter titter tatter, do you even really matter?)

Is it real?
Is it mine?
Is it meant for me this time?

Do you know
What it is?
What it takes to give this gift?

Is it real
This desire?
Have you seen the moon tonight?

See the stars
Swimming by
Is there one for me tonight?
